Top 50 Singles Readers' List- 1984

1. Bronski Beat- Small Town Boy
"Smalltown Boy" was a debut single for Bronski Beat which was released in June 1984, and appeared on the band's debut album 'The Age of Consent', released in December 1984. A great pop hit all round and a deeply meaningful gay liberation anthem without the hostility that offered hope, where previously none existed. It's chiming, pulsing it has the prefect beat and unforgettable falsetto of Jimmy Sommerville which still inspires young artists today. Sample of this song was featured in Groove Armada's song "History" with Will Young on vocals paying the perfect tribute. Even today very poignant and touching, some songs are made forever.

2. Echo & The Bunnymen- The Killing Moon
"The Killing Moon" was the lead single from the album 'Ocean Rain' and the highest charting single for Echo & The Bunnymen. The song was featured in the original version of the movie 'Donnie Darko' in the opening scene. It's darkly romantic, forever twirling in the twilight incredible and slow-burning masterpiece of a song. Echo & the Bunnymen most recent album, entitled 'Meteorites' was released this year on the pledgemusic.com website.

3. a-ha- Take on Me '84
The original "Take On Me" was recorded in 1984 and took three releases to chart in the United Kingdom, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart in November 1985. This first release of "Take On Me" in 1984 includes a completely different recording, and was featured in the first video which shows the band singing with a blue background. Not many people remember this first video. I'm sure we will have a-ha on our 1985 countdown as well. Till then enjoy this one.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3qXQv4IrrU

4. Dead or Alive- You Spin Me Around (Like A Record)
"You Spin Me Around" was a huge and the biggest hit for Dead or Alive to date. It was also the first UK number-one hit by the Stock Aitken Waterman production trio. Flamboyant yet stylish pop at the peak of mid 80's Hi-NRG. The song has been re-released three times since its original release in 1984. Each time of its release, it achieved success, but failed to match the success of the original. However, after lead-singer Pete Burns's appearance on UK Celebrity Big Brother, the single was re-released and managed a Top 5 peak on the UK Singles Chart in 2006. To this date the song has been covered and remixed several times in varius music styles.

5. Prince and the Revolution- Purple Raitn
"Purple Rain" is one of the greatest ballads of all time. It has pretty much everything the melodies are simply put to strong to be ignorable, incredible solo, the singing is great, the lead guitars are amazing. Pretty flawless song. It is widely considered one of Prince's signature songs. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, shipping 1 million units in the United States.Rolling Stone ranked it #143 on their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time while Q magazine placed it at number 40 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

6. The Style Council- Shout to the Top
"Shout to the Top" was Style Council's biggest selling song and their 8th single release. The song was taken from their 1984 album 'Café Bleu' and it was also featured in the films 'Vision Quest' (1985) and Billy Elliot from the year 2000. The Style Council broke up in 1989. 7. Talk Talk- It's My Life
The single was re-released in the UK in 1985, but this time only reached #93. However, in 1990, "It's My Life" was reissued again to promote the compilation album Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk. This time, the song was a hit in the UK, reaching #13, the band's highest chart-placing single in its native country. There are two versions of the video for "It's My Life". This video version was envisioned by director Tim Pope as a statement against the banality of lip-synching, consists almost entirely of footage from wildlife documentaries, interspersed with shots of Talk Talk lead singer Mark Hollis standing in the midst of London Zoo, with his mouth pointedly shut tight and often obscured by hand-drawn animated lines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ixRWvrkUHo

8. Gary Numan- Berserker
So glad to see this song reached so high on our charts as this is one of our Gary Numan favorites. The song marked some change in Numan's image and style and the sound  was intensified with harder-edged electric bass. Although the song reached only #32 on the UK charts it ensured Gary an appearance on the Top of the Pops. Last year Gary released his twentieth album 'Splinter' which reached the Top 20 in the UK, for the first time since the 80's.

9. Siouxsie and the Banshess- Dazzle
One of the most memorable and a bit of underrated Siouxsie and Banshees songs "Dazzle" is at number nine. It was second single from the 1984 Siouxsie and the Banshees' album 'Hyæna' which begins with a gradual fade-in of an orchestral string section and progresses to a drum-driven, majestic anthem. The song reached number 33 in the UK charts and it was their 11th hit in the UK.

10. Frankie Goes To Hollywood- Two Tribes / The Power of Love
At number ten we have a double entry."Relax" was still in the charts when FGTH released "Two Tribes" and continued the reign in the UK charts. The song had a political background and was an anti-war song released in the height of the cold war. The release of "Two Tribes" also coincided with an extensive and iconic T-shirt marketing campaign during the British summer of 1984, featuring such slogans as "Frankie Say War! Hide Yourself" and "Frankie Say Relax Don't Do It!" "The Power of Love" followed and was released later during the same year. Unlike the earlier singles, this song was a slower-paced ballad. Not sure that it had a direct link with the Christmas season, but they did get away with it well. This year Holly Johnson released his solo album "Europa" which also entered the UK charts.

11. Billy Idol- Eyes Without a Face
Just outside the top ten one of the best songs Billy Idol recorded. Soft and pretty, moody, haunting, top lead and brilliant backing vocals. Released on 29 May 1984, this was the second single from the 'Rebel Yell' album. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Idol's first Top 10 hit in the US. The song is notable for the female voice of Perri Lister that sings 'Les yeux sans visage' as a background chorus. Billy Idol's seventh studio album 'Kings and Queens of the Underground' is out now and his self-penned autobiography, 'Dancing With Myself' was released on October 7, 2014 via Touchstone.

12. Duran Duran- New Moon on Monday
"New Moon on Monday" was released as the tenth single in their career and the second to be taken from the album 'Seven and the Ragged Tiger'. An unfairly overlooked Duran Duran hit melodic, jangly guitars, fun and flashy synthesizers, and thumpy bass rhythms, unusual lyrics, everything well put. The song reached highest chart positions in Canada and New Zealand. The band is currently working on a new album which should come out next year.

13. Leonard Cohen- Dance Me To The End of Love
It's great to have a song by Leonard Cohen on our list. Like all other songs this one was released in 1984 and it was taken from the album 'Various Positions' which was released during the same year. Although structured as a love song, "Dance Me to the End Of Love" was in fact inspired by the Holocaust. This is also the first song for which Leonard Cohen recorded a music video. The video was directed by French photographer Dominique Issermann. This year Cohen released his thirtieth studio album 'Popular Problems'.

14.The Smiths- What Difference Does It Make?
The year 1984 was certainly a big year for the Smiths as they released their self-titled debut album and four singles. One of the outstanding tracks from this album is the single "What Difference Does it Make?". Morrissey has stated that this soing is among his least favourite Smiths songs. However, it became one of the band's first significant chart hits, peaking at No. 12 in the UK. The single cover is a photograph taken on the set of the film 'The Collector', based on the novel by John Fowles. Originally Terence Stamp denied permission for the still to be used, and some pressings featured lead singer Morrissey in a re-enacted scene which are very rare.

15. Pet Shop Boys- West End Girls '84
"West End Girls" was released twice as a single in 1984 and a year later. The song is influenced by hip hop music, with lyrics concerned with class and the pressures of inner-city life which were inspired partly by T. S. Eliot's poem 'The Waste Land'. This first version was produced by Bobby Orlando becoming a club hit in the United States and some European countries. After the duo signed with EMI, the song was re-recorded with producer Stephen Hague for their first studio album, 'Please'. In October 1985, the song was re-released, reaching number one in the United Kingdom and the United States in 1986. Last year the duo released their brillian album 'Electric' which found it'ds way in the top ten of our year end charts

16. Prince- When Doves Cry
"When Doves Cry" was the lead single from his 1984 album 'Purple Rain'. It was a worldwide hit, and his first American number one single, topping the charts for five weeks. According to Billboard magazine, it was the top-selling single of the year. "When Doves Cry" has gone on to become one of Prince's signature songs. Spin magazine ranked the song 6th greatest single of all time. It was number #38 in Movement's list 'The Greatest Songs of All Time'. Rolling Stone ranked "When Doves Cry" #52 on their list of 'The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time'. To this date Prince has released 34 albums in various music formats including his latest from this year, 'Plectrumelectro' and 'Art Official Age'.

17. Eurythmics- Here Comes The Rain Again
"Here Comes the Rain again" was another huge hit for the Eurythmics and their biggest hit in 1984 reaching the top tens on both sides of the Atlantic. Everything about  the song is totally artificial and cold (synthesized) except the vocals and the heart beating inside it. Today both members are active in music and recently Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart performed as a duo for "The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles". The event was taped at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 27, 2014, the day after the Grammy Awards. They performed The Beatles song "The Fool on the Hill."

18. Alphaville- Big in Japan
And here comes the final entry of Alphaville in our charts. "Big in Japan" was their debut single and their biggest hit to date. It was a huge hit in Europe but also manged to enter the charts in the USA and Australia. Still part of many daily rotations and also living in various cover versions. The video for the song was directed by Dieter Meier of Yello fame.

19. Prefab Sprout- When Loves Break Down
"When Love Breaks Down" was the first single release from their album 'Steve McQueen' which was released a year later. Somehow the single failed to chart in the UK and it was reissued in 1985 when it reached #25. The song was reissued again in 2007 with new acoustic arrangement. To this date it has been covered by many artists including Lisa Stansfield. Last year they made a great comeback with the brilliant album 'Crimson/Red' which also managed to chart in our year end chart.

20. New Order- Thieves Like Us
"Thieves Like Us" was released in April 1984 by Factory Records. It is named after the 1974 film 'Thieves Like Us', directed by Robert Altman. Like many of their releases, the record was produced by the band, although "Thieves Like Us" was co-written by Arthur Baker during the New York sessions for 'Confusion'. This was like crossroads time where the band announced the new synth electro direction, but still keeping up with a post punk/electronica hybrid of some sort. The band is still pretty much active in music and have left Warner Music and signed to Mute Records.

21. Alphaville- Forever Young
A huge follow up hit to to "Big in Japan" and "Sounds Like a Melody" released during the same year and taken from the album of the same name. Musically it is somehow evocative and catchy but it is also timeless and classic.Though it was not the group's highest-charting European hit and failed to reach the American Top 40 despite three separate U.S. single releases, "Forever Young" has subsequently been covered by numerous artists and has also become  a pop culture standard as it appeared in several movies and series.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1TcDHrkQYg

22. The Chills- Pink Frost

Pink Frost is probabaly the best known Chills song and their absolute high water mark song. It's eerie, atmospheric, contemplative, haunting jungle pop and reflects a real artistic statement and one can easily say that this song defines not only the band but also New Zealand in the mid eighties. In May 2010 the band played two shows in Australia, their first shows outside New Zealand since 1996. Three years later, after another 9-year hiatus from the recording studio, a single newly recorded Chills track called "Molten Gold" was issued. The track was made available as a digital release only, and was released on Martin Phillipps 50th birthday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjW3MT8D9RY

23. Cocteau Twins - Pearly Dewdrops' Drops
"Pearly Dewdrops' Drops" was the fourth single release by the Cocteau Twins and their only official release in 1984. It is another example of beautiful ethereal wave and dream pop with enigmatic lyrics and Liz' yodel style singing. The song also appeared on their EP 'The Sprangle Makers' as 12" version. Both founding members Robin Guthries and Liz Frazer has been active in music in the recent years also releasing solo work.

24. This Mortal Coil- Kangaroo
"Kangaroo" was the second single by This Mortal Coil following the brilliant "Song to the Siren" from 1983. This was a cover of Big Star's song of the same name which appeared on their third album '3rd'. As acoustic, ethereal and folky art wave interpretation receiving the same praise as the original version. During the 90's, Watts-Russell began releasing albums in a similar vein to his TMC projects, under the name The Hope Blister. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WByGMjdejD4

25. Siouxsie and the Banshees- Swimming Horses
"Swimming Horses" was the second single release for Siouxie and The Banshees from the album 'Hyaena'. The song is most memorable for the piano driven melody and arty musical arrangement. The song was produced by co-produced with Mike Hedges while the album was co-written by Robert Smith of the Cure. As we previously reported, their four final albums have been reissued this year. More info here.

26. George Michael- Careless Whisper
"Carless Whisper" was George Michael's first solo single although he was still performing in Wham! at the time. The song features a prominent saxophone riff, and has been covered by a number of artists since its first release. It was released as a single and became a huge commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic. It reached number one in nearly 25 countries, selling about six million copies worldwide. The song has recently been covered by the German artist Get Well Soon giving the song the whole new dimension and musical arrangement.

27. Cyndi Lauper- Time after Time
Here one that speaks directly from the heart. A fusion of melancholy and emotion in an arrangement that gives creeps . Certainly one of the biggest hits for Cyndi Lauper that was quite the anti-thesis to her first hit "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". The song has been selected as one of the Best Love Songs of All Time by many media outlets, including Rolling Stone, Nerve, MTV and many others and it was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 1985 edition. Lauper has performed the song live with Patti LaBelle twice in 1985 and 2004 and with Sarah McLachlan at the American Music Awards of 2005, as well as with rapper Lil' Kim in 2009.

28. Talk Talk- Such A Shame
"Such a Shame" is one of the three most successful and essential singles Talk Talk released. The song was inspired by Luke Rhinehart’s novel 'The Dice Man' one of the singers favorite books. The song was also released in 2004 when it was also featured in a European TV commercial for the French car Peugeot 205. A tribute album and anthological book to Talk Talk, both titled Spirit of Talk Talk, were released in 2012. The book includes all the artwork James Marsh did for the band, and hand-written lyrics (by the band). http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xtd2l_talk-talk-such-a-shame_music

29. Alphaville- Sounds Like a Melody
1984 was really a big year for Alphaville as they manage to release three really successful top ten singles. They have all entered our charts and on #31 we find "Sounds Like a Melody". The song was released as the second single from their debut album 'Forever Young'. Unlike most pop music, where song structure is focused on vocal melodies, this song also includes an 8-bar instrumental synthesizer melody which is heard once at the beginning, is followed by a verse-chorus-verse structure, and then repeats for almost one minute to end the song. Parts of this song sometimes appear in dance music. In 1993 an Italian Eurodance duo group Cappella made a club hit "U Got 2 Let the Music" by sampling this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO3IEDRsP2Q

30. Laura Branigan- Self Control
We already mentioned this song in our charts as the original version by Raf found its way to #49. Both releases were huge in 1984 and both artist scored their biggest hit with them. Laura's version was richer both in terms of musical and visual production. The video for the song was directed by William Friedkin and this was the first time Academy Award-winning film director on a music video. Branigan died at her home in 2004, aged 47, from a previously undiagnosed cerebral  aneurysm.

31. Les Rita Mitsuoko- Marcia Baila
"Marcia Baila" was the third single for the French duo from their debut album 'Rita Mitsouko' released during the same year. The song was dedicated to the inspirational dancer and choreographer Marcia Moretto who died in the early 80's. A very rich musical arrangement led by the powerful vocals of Catherine Ringer in cabaret style certainly makes this band's signature song. The founding member Fred Chichin died of cancer in 2007 while Ringer continued as solo artist.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6FVlfOgTo8

32. Malcolm McLaren- Madam Butterfly
Malcolm MClaren released one of his most memorable hits in "Madam Butterfly" in 1984. Influenced by Giacomo Pucchini's opera of the same name, it was a classical crossover and mixture of electronic pop with opera elements and narration. As we all know Malcolm was no stranger to that. The song was produced by Stephan Hague and for those who wondered, the female vocals in this song were provided by Deborah Cole. McLaren passed away in April 2010. McLaren was buried in Highgate Cemetery, North London, to the strains of the Sid Vicious version of "My Way".

33. The Pretenders- Middle of the Road
Following on to number #34 here come the Pretenders with their release "Middle of the Road". Back then Chrissie Hynde started dating and married Jim Kerr from Simple Minds whose marriage would list till 1990. The song was released in late 1983 and managed to chart in early 1984. It was 60's rhythm styled song and back then The Pretenders were among the few bands still holding the New Wave torch even after its slow decadence. The Pretenders manage to reunite for an album in 2008 and since then they were only preforming.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzLycvGE8Vk

34. Simple Minds- Speed Your Love To Me
On January 9th, 1984, Simple Minds released "Speed Your Love To Me" as the second single from the album 'Sparkle in the Rain'. They already started their affair with Stadium Rock embracing new aesthetics and styles. If you would ask me I would pick any other Simple Minds phase, but this. And just a quick reminder that their brand new album 'Big Music' is out now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqIr6WPfgTw

 35. Propaganda- Dr Mabuse
"Dr Mabuse" was a debut single for Propaganda in 1984 when they decided to relocate to the UK. Trevor Horn produced, Fritz Lang inspired and Caludia Brücken performed, it could not go wrong.
The rattling coin on the table announced a great melody, explosive in sound and distinctive in style. It might have been a little bit too wierd for the mainstream, but despite the fact it managed to reach charts in the UK and native Germany. One of the Propaganda founding members Andreas Thein died last year, as for the rest of the band, they are still active in music.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHKm4mLTLs8

36. Nik Kershaw- Wouldn't it be Good
"Wouldn't it be Good" was a huge hit for Nik Kershaw in 1984. Everyone would remember the chroma-key technology directed video which was an instant part of the daily airplay on MTV. Great little pop with catchy synth lines, great guitar riffs and wonderful horn chart to the end of the song. This was Nik's only single that charted in the US charts reaching #46. Nik is still pretty active in music today touring and performing and he will join Spandau Ballet during their New Zealand gig next year.

37. Depeche Mode- People are People  Not sure what the band thinks about this song today, but the fans are divided, between thinking it's Depeche Mode's best or worst song. One is for sure, this is the first DM hit and synth pop song in general that include industrial elements inspired by Einstürzende Neubauten. Melody drowns out in pipeline beats and metal bashing but stays pop. Quite catchy and dancefloor ready, the song also gave the group their first commercial success in the US reaching #13. The band announced 'Depeche Mode Live in Berlin', the new video and audio release filmed and recorded at the 'O2 World' in Berlin during the Delta Machine Tour. It will be released on November 17, 2014 worldwide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_3GQu7dm-I

38. The Human League- The Lebanon
Three years after the success of 'Dare' Human League was still struggling to follow up on success of their biggest selling album. The release of "The Lebanon" was like a wake up call for the HL fans after floppy 'Hysteria' album. It was quite surprising and controversial move from them to release a cod-political single, when everyone expected to hear about waitresses and cocktail bars. Nevertheless it was a great and powerful track which could have charted better and which certainly is a last good Human League track in that era.At the end of 2012, the band undertook the 'XXXV Tour' across Europe and the UK, to celebrate 35 years in existence with some critically acclaimed shows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEsRYkRpySY

 39. Fad Gadget- Collapsing New People
Depending on the release date or country you might find this song also as a late 1983 release. "Collapsing New People" is certainly one of the finest works for Fad Gadget both in sound and vision delivering industrial style electronica with mechanised experimentation. This song in particular was a colaboration with Einstürzende Neubauten and it was taken from Fad Gadget's fourth studio album 'Gag' released by Mute. Frank Tovey died of a heart attack on 3 April 2002 at the age of 45. He left a wife with two children. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcQY9mQ02mM

40. Ultravox- Dancing with Tears in My Eyes
"Dancing with Tears in my Eyes" was Ultravox' second most successful single ever released. Now when you look back there is a very special connotation on a nuclear disaster which became quite a topic in the second half of the eighties with the Chernobyl accident in 1986 when during the explosion large quantities of radioactive particles were released into the atmosphere. Well the thing is that the song was released in 1984 and turned out to be a prophet of the things to come. Sadly the nuclear disasters are still an issue today. Regarding Ultravox, after few line up changes in the 90's Ultravox reunited in the original Midge Ure line up in 2009 and 2012 saw them releasing their 11th studio album 'Brill!ant'.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSza93W6n1M

41. Box of Toys- Precious is the Pearl
Number #41 is very special and probably the most obscure entry on our countdown. Thank God there is internet and these very special jams see the light of the day. Box of Toys released only two singles during their career and one of them is is "Precious is the Pearl". Indeed the best reference to describe this tune. Elegant and sensitive electronic pop with touches of folk left on the shelf between The Lotus Eaters and China Crisis. The lead singer Brian Atherton also released as The Light in the following years. Sadly the Box of Toys' material was never reissued and hard to say what happened to the band members.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8KC8_uSfag

42. The Replacements- I Will Dare
I Will Dare was the second single release for The Replacements in their career. The song was released shortly before the official album release 'Let it Be' and it was backed by the cover version of "20th Century Boy". It reminds of 50's rockabilly and also have a cult status in jangle and college rock canons. The band reformed in 2012 and is pretty much active in music performing live.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJcCzWcgPsY

43. Scritti Pollitti- Hypnotize
"Hypnotize" was the third single release from the album 'Cupid & Psyche 85'. Another Scritti Polliti's tune where Green's magic voice makes love with great little bits of arrangements all put together and funky funky funky chill. The song reached only #68 in the UK charts but remains on of the mid-eighties classix. This year Green collaborated with fellow Welshmen, the Manic Street Preachers on lead vocals to the track "Between the Clock and the Bed" on the Manics' Futurology album (2014), Scritti Politti was the support act for three of the Manics' live shows in April 2014.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=382YYvtCBls

44. Section 25- Looking from the Hill Top
Section 25 released their third album "From The Hip" in 1984 leaving their saturmine post-punk opus behind. "Looking from the Hilltop" meant new rhythms embracing electronica and techno styles. This track was co-produced and remixed by Bernard Sumner and remains their most successful single release to date. Section 25 still very much active in music with the new line up which features only one original member, Vincent Cassidy and Bethany Cassidy, daughter of deceased Larry and Jenny Cassidy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eG_z2v20YI

45. Eurythmics- Sex Crime (1984)
One of the best soundtracks of 1984 and one of the outstanding tracks on it which celebrates exactly 30 years as it was released in November 1984. The song's title was particularly controversial to those who were not aware of the meaning of the word in Orwell's novel '1984'. Heavy sampling of Annie Lennox' 'do-do-dos' was mixing with throbbing synthesizers in dance-floor rhythms. This year Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart reunited for the Beatles tribute concert singing Beatles' "The Fool on the Hill".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcTP7YWPayU

46. Lloyd Cole and The Commotions- Forest Fire
One of the outstanding tracks and a real jangle pop pearl from the Album ‘Rattlesnakes’ which has remained Lloyd Cole biggest commercial success recorded with The Commotions. It’s interesting that the album was recorded in the Garden studios owned by John Foxx. Today Lloyd Cole is still busy with music as solo artist and releasing new material.http://t.co/DMLemx6niT

47. Depeche Mode- Blasphamous Rumors
The last of the three single releases from 1984 and the first official double A-Side with Martin on vocals. Not as commercial as the previous ones, more complex in terms of song topic and structure. A perfect combination of dark and gloomy intro and pop oriented chorus style. Certainly a big milestone for Depeche Mode pointing towards their biggest commercial success which will come in the second half of the 80's. http://t.co/GSt9Hcg2am

48. The Killing Joke- Eighties
Everyone is probably familiar with the story of the song. If you were a 90’s teenie you will probably think of “Come As You Are” as the best Nirvana song. Eighties kids would eventually claim the original anthem as their top. But then again, there is also a doubt about its originality as the 1982 song “Life Goes on” by the Damned has the same bass lines. Hard to tell where the story starts, but anyhow even today one of the most memorable melodies the world knows.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD2oVEn0evE

49. RAF- Self Control
“Self Control” was a huge hit in the summer of 1984. It was a big debut for the young Italian in his
native Italy and some European Countries. Today it seems like the lo-fi, DIY version of the cover version by Laura Branigan who recorded it during the same year. Today Raf is still recording and releasing music in Italy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3zP3ziq738

50. China Crisis- Wishful Thinking
“Wishful Thinking” was China Crisis’ first and only top ten hit in the UK. To this date this sweet tweet appeared on several compilations. Duo is still active in music and pledging for the release of a brand new studio album.
