Out Today: The Horrors - Night Life

 The Horrors have released their sixth studio album Night Life that was already announced with the string of  single released that were released end of last year including "The Silence That Remains". The album is out on Fiction Records and in addition to the band's original line up, it features two new members, Amelia Kidd on keyboards and backing vocals and Jordan Cook on drums. Their latest single is "Ariel" is out now.


Ghost Cop - All Souls Day

Ghost Cop have released a video for the songs "All Souls Day", directed by Sean Dack and Lucy Swope. The song was premiered on the band's Bandcamp page in October 2024.

Instant Hit: Godot - Something's Missing

"Something Missing" is the sole single released by the short-lived 80s act Godot, a project involving among others David Hughes and Martin Cooper, both members of Dalek I Love You. Alongside this single, the band also released an EP titled Extended Player in 1981.


Instant Hit: The Glove - Like An Animal

The Glove released their debut single, "Like an Animal," in August 1983. As a side project of Robert Smith from The Cure and Steve Severin from Siouxsie and the Banshees, the project allowed both musicians to take a break from their where they recruited Jeanette Landray to take on lead vocal duties for the song. The band released one-off album, Blue Sunshine, before disbanding, with Smith and Severin returning to their original bands.


The Horrors - The Silence That Remains

 The Horrors have released a brand new single titled, "The Silence That Remains". The song will be featured on their sixth studio album Night Life, which is set for release on March 25th 2025.

The Cure - Alone

 The Cure have released "Alone", their first single release in 16 years. The song will be featured on their next studio album Songs of the Lost World which is due on November 1st. 

Out Today: Fat White Family - Forgiveness is Yours

Fat White Family has just dropped their fourth studio album, Forgiveness is Yours, via Domino Records. Preceding its release were several singles, such as "Bullet of Dignity" and "What's that You Say." Below is the video for their potential next single, "Work."


Instant Hit: Oto - Anyway

 The French Minimal wave/Post punk outfit Oto who were formed in 1979 released two singles and one EP back in the 80s. "Anyway" was recorded and released in Paris, in 1984 while their EP Purge and Urge followed two years later in 1986 after which the band disbanded. "Anyway" was reissued in 2022 by Replica records with the original B-sides.


Instant Hit: The Popular Sex - This May Save Your Life

The Popular Sex released their only album, Power of Suggestion, during their brief stint in 1984. Reportedly, the album features tracks recorded from the late 70s up to 1981. It was released by a small Atlanta label called Wild Carbon Software. Here in this feature we would like to present the closing and our favorite track of the album, "This May Say Your Live."


Out Today: Idles - TANGK

Idles have released their fifth studio album TANGK today. The album release was preceded by three singles, including "Dancer" and "Grace," both released last year. The video for the latter was premiered last week and is a recreation of Coldplay's "Yellow," with Martin singing Idles' song with some AI assistance. Follow the link below for the video.


Next Wave: Working Men's Club

Workings Men's Club is one of the finest new comer bands to emerge this year. Hailing from Todmorden in West Yorkshire, England, the band were formed in mid-2018 by vocalist/guitarist Sydney Minsky-Sargeant, guitarist Giulia Bonometti, and drummer Jake Bogacki. The band is known for their very unique turbulent post punk sound which draws influences from both the 80's and early 90's. After releasing a single "Bad Blood" heavily influenced by guitar-based post-punk,  Working Men's Club signed to Heavenly Records under which they released their self titled debut album. Their lead single   "Valley" is where you will certainly feel the 90's influence both in sound and video production.


Instant Hit: Modern English - Gathering Dust

"Gathering Dust" was the third single by Modern English released 40 years ago. It is a pretty much atmospheric track, loud and turning into explosion of sound. Similar to the music their contemporaries like Joy Division and A Certain Ratio did it shows a perfect examples of Post Punk aesthetics.


A Certain Ratio Announce the release of Brand New Studio Album, Reveal Singles

A Certain Ratio have announced the release of a brand new studio album this September. Their brand new studio album is entitled ACR Loco and it will be their first long player in 12 years. So far they have released two singles to promote its release, "Always in Love" and "Friend Around Us". Like all the previous album it will be released by Mute. Save the date, September 25th.




Instant Hit: The Gist - Love at the First Sight

"Love at the First Sight" was the second single Stuart Moxam released under the name The Gist. He was previously a member of Young Marble Giants who split soon after the release their only album Young Colossal Youth. The song could also be found on The Gist's debut album Embrace the Herd which was released through Rough Trade records during the same year. The song became a hit in France when it was covered by French pop singer Étienne Daho under the title "Paris, Le Flore".



WAW: I Like Trains - The Truth

I Like Trains have returned with a new single "The Truth" which is also announcing the release of their fifth studio album Kompromat to be released in August. The music video for "The Truth" was premiered recently and it was directed by directed by Michael Connolly.



Next Wave: XTR Human

XTR Human are a three piece Post Punk outfit from Berlin who are just up for their second album Interior. The band has already been around during the last decade when they released their debut album Atavism in 2014. XTR Human manage to catch the best influences and musical heritage from previous decades, but also keeping up the pace with the best contemporaries. Most of the album is influenced by cold atmospheric post punk fueled by the throbbing bass and energetic vocals while it also has playful synth sections which relaxes off a bit the tense dark atmosphere on the album.
The album has been released on May 29th and is available on band's Bandcamp page.

Joy Division's 40th Anniversary Reissues

Joy Division's second album Closer has been reissued as part of the 40th Anniversary as limited edition ‘crystal clear’ vinyl LP. The three non-album singles,"Transmission", "Atmosphere" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart", are also being reissued as 12" singles at the same time as the album. The reissue is set for release on July 18th.  This release also marks 40 years of Ian Curtis' death who died on May 18th 1980.


Next Wave: Structures

Following their debut EP release from 2018, the French Post punk quartet Structures have returned with a new single this year called "Sorry, I Know It's Late But….". Influenced by 80's Post punk and 90's Brit pop, they manage to deliver a very dynamic indie rock sound they like to call "Rough Wave". Along with Protomartyr and Fontaines D.C. among the best music of this sort on the music market in this moment. Their debut album How Does It Feel? is announced for release in September.




  

WAW: Fontaines D.C. - A Hero's Death

After the big success last year with their debut album Dogrel, the Fontaines D.C. will return with a brand new album this year. The album is entitled A Hero's Death and the video for the first single of the same name has been premiered on YouTube. The video stars the actor Aidan Gillen and was directed by Hugh Mulhern.




WAW: Protomartyr - Worm in Heaven

The Detroit based Protomartyr are returning with a new studio album in July. The album is titled Ultimate Success Today and it is their first release since 2017. They have already revealed two singles "Processed By The Boys" in March and the current one "Worm in Heaven" for which the video was premiered on April 28th. The video was directed and Photographed by Trevor Naud.
