Instant Hit: One Thousand Violins- Locked Out Of The Love-In

The Sheffield based group One Thousand Violins which was mostly active in the second half of the 80's released three albums and several singles. They made their debut in 1985 with the single "Halycon Days" and two years later, in 1987, they released "Locked Out Of The Love-In" through 'Dreamworld' label. Like most of their singles, this song entered the UK indie charts.

Next Wave: Turboweekend

Turboweekend is a three piece band out of Copenhagen, Denmark, consisting of Silas Bjerregaard (Vocals), Martin Øhlers Petersen (Drums), and Morten Køie (Bass).The three members grew up together in the small town of Fredensborg. They formed Turboweekend around 2006 as a playground project, and only 4 years after the playground has become fulltime work in the most rewarding sense of the word. The band is currently writing material for their third album and preparing a European spring tour beginning. Their new EP called 'Bound' is out and features guest performances by the lovely Ty Bulmer of the New Young Pony Club Browse bands website for more information and EP download.

The Dears- Degeneration Street

The long awaited fifth studio album from Montreal based group the Dears is out tomorrow, February 15, 2010. 'Degeneration Street' marks the return of several band members who were absent from the band's previous album 'Missiles', including Patrick Krief, Rob Benvie and Roberto Arquila. The album features a sweeping collection of orchestral pop / rock that is at once enlightening, angst-ridden and mesmerizing. "Omega Dog" is currently the only single from the album which was released in October 2010.

Clinic- Bubblegum

'Bubblegum' is the sixth album by Clinic, released today, October 4, 2010. The album was produced by John Congleton and recorded at Elevator Studios in Liverpool and it is a high water mark in Clinic’s career to date. The album was preceded by a beautiful new single "I'm Aware" which was released on September 20, 2010.

Instant Hit: Pulp- My Lighthouse

Pulp, one of the best 90's bands, really struggled to gain prominence in the early 80's with the release of their debut album It. Most of the songs on this album were acoustic, romantic pop songs influenced by Leonard Cohen. The debut single "My Lighthouse" is the perfect example for it. It was released in 1983 though the Red Rhino Records.

Yeasayer have released their self produced second album 'Odd Blood'. The album was recorded in New York ans is out on February 8/9, 2010 in Europe and North America. Two singles have already been released so far,"Ambling Alp" in 2009 and "O.N.E." preceded the album release.

Vampire Weekend- Contra

Vampire Weekend have released their second album 'Contra' on January 11, 2010. This is their second album and a follow up to their self titled debut album which was released in 2008. The first single "Cousins" was already released in October 2009. The album has few references on Joe Strummer and his band Clash. The album's title also refers to the 1987 video game 'Contra'.

Air- Love 2

Air have released a first album on their recording facility Atlas Studio. 'Love 2' is the name of their sixth album which was already released in Japan in September. The album was streamed worldwide for an interactive "listening party"on September 28, 2009, starting at 12:00 CET for exactly 24 hours. Track names were not shown, but the album was played in order. The first single from the album "Sing Sang Sung" was released in August and the official album release date for Europe is October 5, 2009.

Next Wave- Music Go Music

Music Go Music is a three piece music group from LA. The group consists of Gala Bell (vocals), Kamer Maza (keyboards) and Torg (bass). Earlier this year they released a song "Warm in The Shadows" which is available on youtube as a live preformance. Their debut album Expressions is ready to be released in October. Their music certainly expresses a lot and you can hear many great influences including Abba and the ELO. Check the links for more info.

The Lightning Seeds- Four Winds

The Lightning Seeds returned after almost ten years break in May with a new album release. The album is entitled 'Four Winds' and it was released under Universal's Stage Three Records on 25 May 2009. The record was produced by Ian Brodie himself.

"After a 10 year Hiatus Ian Broudie, after suffering some personal turmoil over the past few years with the death of his parents, brother, sister and the breakdown of his marriage, has ressurected the Lightning Seeds name for his latest album "Four Winds".

Next Wave: Florence & The Machine

Florence and The Machine is a British group that consists of Florence Welch and her backing band of several musicians which is a reffernce to "the Machine". The music of Florence & The Machine is generally reffered to indie, pop-rock and bit of tribal and folk and this is what Florence thinks music should sound like: “I want my music to sound like throwing yourself out of a tree, or off a tall building, or as if you’re being sucked down into the ocean and you can’t breathe”.
The band's debut album, Lungs, will be released on 6th July 2009. The albums was preceded by few brilliant songs including the cover version of "You've Got The Love" and their latest release "Rabbit Heart" which were released earlier this year.

Patrick Wolf- The Bachelor

'The Bachelor' is the fourth studio album by English singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf.'The Bachelor' was originally part of a double album entitled 'Battle'.On 19 February 2009, Wolf announced that 'Battle' had been split into two releases, 'The Bachelor' and 'The Conqueror'. 'The Bachelor has been released on 1 June 2009 and 'The Conqueror' would see release in 2010. The first single from the album will be "Vulture" and was set for release on 20 April 2009. The song is a departure from Patrick Wolf's last album, 'The Magic Position', featuring synthesisers and drum machines.

Metric vs Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Metric and Yeah Yeah Yeahs have both released their new albums in April. Metric have released their fourth studio album 'Fantasies' from which the first single "Help Me I'm Alive" was taken, as well as their latest release "Front Row" which was featured on the March 12th episode of Grey's Anatomy.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs came back for their third release. The album was produced by Nick Launay who also produced albums for Nick Cave and Arcade Fire. The first single "Zero" was released on February 24, 2009 is great synth pop anthem to rock and to dance to.

Doves- Kingdom of Rust

Doves will release a new album on April 6, 2009. 'Kingdom of Rust' will be their fourth studio album and the follow-up to their album 'Some Cities' which was released four years ago.The album was preceded by first single "Kingdom of Rust" on March 30th. Doves also offered the album's lead track "Jetstream" as a free download on their website, starting from January 28, 2009.

Bat For Lashes- Two Suns

Bat For Lashes will release a new album on 6 April 2009. This will be the follow up to her Mercury Music Prize nominated album Fur and Gold. According to the press release, Two Suns is bringing reflection about the philosophy of the self and duality. The album features collaborations with Scott Walker and Yeasayer.The first single from the album is called "Daniel" and it is released on 1 March 2009.
