Reissue: Shriekback- Oil and Gold

Cherry Red have released 'Oil & Gold', the third full-length Shriekback album, which is widely considered the band's best. The album was originally released in 1985 on Island Records and saw the band metamorphose from contemplative to rocking. Shriekback- Life in The Loading Bay

The British post punk dance band Shriekback have returned with a new album, three years after their last record release "Glory Bumps" in 2007. Their 12th studio album 'Life on a Loading Bay' was recorded by the original line up and it celebrates the approaching 30th anniversary of the band. The album is out on 'Malicious Damage' label and as it is reported that it is carrying a similar devilish, panoramic world-view to Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds and that it is reaching back to folk music forms or film noir soundtracks.

Instant Hit: Shriekback- The Big Hush

In 1985, Shriekback released their third studio album Oil and Gold which featured one of Shriekback's best song ever recorded and our absolute favorite tune by the band. Sadly, it was never released as a single, but it was featured in Michael Mann's 1986 film Manhunter.

Shriekback- Glory Bumps

Shriekback have released their 11th album 'Glory Bumps' in May this year. It's their follow up to the 'Cormorant' which was released in 2005. It is another 'Malicious Damage' release which reminds of the mid 80's Shriekback release 'Oil and Gold'. This album features a collaboration with Andy Partridge of XTC as well as Barry Andrews son Finn Andrews who lends his intense vocals to the happy-clappy title track.
