WAW: John Maus- Believer

The release date of John Maus' long awaited third album 'We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves' is approaching, it is set to be released on June 28, 2011. In the meantime here is an official video for a song "Believer", to be taken from the album. The video was created using a mixture of rare vintage video equipment and experimental techniques reflecting the often blurry yet always determined world of John Maus.

John Maus- New Album in June

John Maus will release his third LP this summer with the title 'We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves'. The album features 11 tracks of Maus' brand of vintage-inspired, lo-fi synth pop. It is reported that unlike the last two albums, 'Pitiless Censors' looks towards the future in all its absurdity where promise takes the lead for the first time, providing a counterpoint to John's default existential calling. The album will be out in June via Maus' longtime label home 'Upset the Rhythm'! in the UK and 'Ribbon Music' in the US. Possible new single "Quantum Leap" is available as a free download. You can get it here.

WAW: John Maus - Enterprise

Yesterday while I was browsing for some underground Maus releases, I discoverd this video for a song "Enterprise". The music for this song was written and performed by John Maus and the video was recorded by Jennifer Juniper Stratford. This could be a possible new release by Mr. John Maus but there is no official confirmation of that. So we have to wait to see and enjoy this wonderful song in the meanwhile.

Next Wave: John Maus

John Maus is American avant-garde musician and composer. Although first drawn to our attention as a core member of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and keyboard player with Animal Collective's Panda Bear, Maus has proved himself to be an extraordinary musician with a distinctive sound in his own right. He released two album Songs in 2006 and Love is Real in 2007 through ‘Upset! The Rhythm. His music is melancholic, electro driven baroque pop with weird synthesizer lines and drum machine clicks. His voice reminds of Ian Curtis and Nick Cave.
